Engineering Management is a skill which open lots of opportunities to well-educated degree engineer with expert in technically sound, skill to leading, higher job demands, security and well salary payments.
Management is the art of getting things done through & with the people in formally organized group. it is goal oriented, universal, social process, dynamic & group activity. It covers four aspects such as
1. Management as a Process – to co-ordinate, control, commands to forecast plans
2. Management as in detail oriented activities like interpersonal, informational and decisional activities
3. Management as a group
4. Management as a discipline

Functions of Management
The main objectives of the project management can be described in terms of a successful project which has been finish on time, within the budgeted cost and to technical specifications which satisfy the end user.
1. Project Planning
It calls for detailing the project into various activities, estimating resources, time given for each activity as well as describing activity with them inter relationships
2. Project Organization
Requires the details of starting and completing duties for each activity. It is a part of planning itself to concentrates on time schedule and allocation of resources.
3. Project Controlling
A continuous check on performance of the project should be made. Control requires not only the current status information but insight into possible trade off when difficulties arise
There are two approaches for Project control:
- The variance analysis control
- Performance analysis control
Control Function in Engineering System
1. Constant Controls – includes self-control, group control, procedures and rules.
Control Process involves four elements:
- Establishing standard of performance
- Measuring performance
- Comparison of actual results against standards
- Correction of deviation

It includes information, product design, development, energy, type of material, raw materials, labour and capital. All these things are needed throughout during the production of any goods or product.
It is the processing of raw material into final product by using particular type of machinery, chemical technology, energy, labour and material.
Service System
Any system which is capable of providing service facilities in an organized manner is called service system. some types of service system are:
- Stagnant Personal Services i.e. direct contact like customer services
- Substitutable personal services e.g. Writing Letter, E-mail
- Transportation services
- Construction and related Engg. Services and lot more…!!
Conclusion:
All these skill of Engineering Management make you a Leader and responsible to handle the group of people or team in a systematic manner. Continuous Coordinate with top to bottom level of departments and their requirements respectively. Able to take decision on the spot in any stable or unstable stage of project.
